Sound Good?
Let’s get right into things today, OK?
Are you guys ready?

 Social Media

Social distractions
This has got to be my #1 distraction when I’m trying to write a blog post or do some work on my business.
From people msging me on FB to scrolling through posts and watching funny videos, social media has got to be 1 of the biggest distractions you’ll face as an online marketer.
Trust me, I’ve been there, done that, & I’m still doing it as I sit here and write this blog post.
The 1 I struggle with the most is Facebook as I’m usually on there several times throughout the day sharing, liking, or commenting on a post or funny video that I watched.
To deal with this and cut off this distraction I simply log out of Facebook completely and click out of the window in my browser.
This way I won’t receive any annoying notifications or receive any messages while I’m working on my business and building out my site.
In order for you to have any type of success within the online industry, it’s going to require a great amount of concentration.
This includes Instagram, Twitter, What’s App, or any other social media network that you are a member of.
It’s highly imperative that you stay off of Facebook and try to avoid any other distractions that may come your way if you’re looking to be successful online.

 Turn Off Your Phone

Smartphone
This is right up there in my list of top distractions that I face whenever I start to create content for my website or work on my business.
If it’s not an email, or phone call coming in, it’s a notification from 1 of the many apps I have installed on my phone.
I usually turn off my phone before I start doing any type of work so that I don’t have a bunch of people calling me to chat when I should be getting some work done.
To deal with this distraction I turn my phone off and place it in the next room.
That way it’s out of sight, out of mind!!
Make sense?
This way you won’t be tempted to pick it up & scroll through your newsfeed and start arguing with a troll on your timeline.
By putting your phone in the next room you’ll be amazed at how much more productive you’ll be and the amount of work you’ll get done.

Friends & Family Coming Over To Visit

family get together
For me, this was a huge distraction mainly when I was still with my now ex-wife as her family practically lived there as it was lol.
Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with spending time with your family.
However, there is a time & a place for everything we do in life.
As an online marketer, it will be your job to create some type of weekly schedule and list a few goals you would like to hit for either the week or month.
This way you’ll be able to spend time with your loved ones without it getting in the way of building an online business.
If your family comes over unannounced several times a week then you may want to take your laptop and head to the park or somewhere quiet to get some work done.
I have had to do this several times in my early days of affiliate marketing as I had a neighbor that always wanted to hang out.
I love to hang out & chill with my friends as much as the next person.
However, when works need to be done then it’s not time to be hanging out.
Do you guys feel me?

Watching TV & Playing Video Games

Watching TV
For those of you who have been following me for quite some time know that I’m a huge fan of The Walking Dead (TWD).
I also happen to be a pretty big gamer that usually spends at least 20 hours a week gaming.
I should have placed this higher up on this list than I did as this is one of my weaknesses and something that took me a while to deal with.
I now have my shows scheduled to record so I don’t need to watch them live the same night they air.
I watch them whenever I have all my work done and have a few hours to relax and chill out on the couch.
If you’re anything like me, then you may want to try this out for yourself the next time you’re distracted by the TV whether it be another family member or someone else in your household.
If you don’t have control over the TV where you live then you may want to try and find a quiet spot in your house and take your laptop there to get some work done.

  Family Obligations

family obligations
For those of you that are married and have a few kids, this one will relate to you more than it does me or anyone else.
Even though I don’t personally have kids, I have several buddies of mine who have 2,3,4 kids that are either playing soccer or are involved in some other type of sport.
I know how busy it can get while your kid is playing soccer or some other miscellaneous sport that requires your full attention.
This all comes back to creating a weekly schedule and working on your business before soccer practice each day.
Once you get the soccer schedule for the week you’ll need to pencil in some time to work on your business either before or after your son/ daughters games.
By doing so you’ll still be able to participate in family functions while still devoting an adequate amount of time to your online business.

My Closing Thoughts

No matter where you look distractions are everywhere.
These 5 things are merely a small handful of distractions that I have personally dealt with except for the last one that I listed above.
Depending on your living situation and what you have going on in your life at this particular time will determine what type of distractions you’re faced with on a day to day basis.
I really hope this post has given you guys some insight into a few of the distractions I faced as well as how I managed to deal with them.
