Wondering what exactly a product tester is and how it works?
Trust me, I know exactly how you must feel about now as I have experienced this many times myself.
There has been a great deal of speculation surrounding this topic and many people (myself included) have wondered if there really are companies out there that will pay you for this type of work.
I have taken the time to do some detailed research on this topic and I have found 7 awesome companies that will pay you to test products, give a complete review, & keep the product afterward.
In the following post, I’ll be showing you what this opportunity is all about, how much you can potentially earn, & ultimately whether this would be a good fit for you or not.
I’m sure that many of you guys may have questions for me concerning this topic & I encourage you to leave them for me in the comments below.
That is, if I failed to answer your question within the context of this post.
Are you guys ready to get started?
What Is A Product Tester?
A product tester is anyone that is chosen to test, use, & evaluate a variety of products before they officially launch.
These types of jobs are in high demand as you can probably imagine for both the vendor and the job applicant that is in search of these positions.
If you happen to be lucky enough to be chosen for this type of work then your job would be pretty simple.
It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to earn some extra money in your spare time or receive free products in the mail, being a product tester can fill both of those needs.
How It Works
Before we get any further into this post it’s highly imperative that you have a good understanding of how everything works before diving in & applying for these types of jobs.
You’ll first need to find & apply for the sites that offer this type of work.
During the signup process, you’ll be asked a few questions to get an idea of what type of products you’re into so they can match you up with the one that’s right for you.
Once you complete the questionnaire and signup, you’ll need to wait usually 24 to 48 hours to see if you were accepted to test the products you signed up for.
You’ll be contacted by email with a few additional questions before you are officially accepted.
Once they accept you, you’ll be given 1 or 2 weeks to use the product, test it out for yourself and given an honest & thorough review of your experience.
It’s vital that you give an honest review of any products you test as companies are relying on you to confirm whether these products are ready to hit the market or not.
How Much Money Can You Make
This really depends on which companies you apply for and how consistent you are.
Most product testers earn anywhere from $3 to $150 for each product they review.
This number varies from one person to the next as statistics show that the average salary for a product tester in the United States is $26,000 a year.
Not to bad for a dream job like this, is it?
Not to mention the fact that there are perks like free shopping vouchers & free merchandise that you get to keep after reviewing it as well.
The price of the merchandise isn’t included in the figure you see above so consider this a BONUS.
7 Companies That Are Searching For Product Testers
There are actually a plethora of companies who are in dire need of product testers for the millions of products that are being introduced to the market on a daily basis.
However, finding the legit companies that will actually send you products for you to evaluate & pay you within a timely manner are few & far between.
After doing a great amount of research on which ones were legit, I have come up with the following 7 companies that are the best.
Some pay for other things beside product testing like mystery shopping & secret dining while others are exclusive to product testing jobs only.
Pick & choose from the ones below that you feel would make a good fit for you and pass over the ones that don’t interest you.
1) Toluna
Toluna has got to be my all-time favorite company for product testing jobs as they pay pretty well and they allow you to keep the products after reviewing them as an extra bonus.
They accept testers from the US, UK, Australia, & Canada who are at least 18 years old or older.
This is one of the highest quality companies that not only specializes in market research & surveys but has also branched out to also include product testing jobs as well.
Signing up with Toluna is free and an easy 2 step process which consists of entering a valid email address & creating a unique password.
Once you have entered this info you’ll need to verify that you are interested in becoming a product tester by clicking the link in the email they just sent you.
Payment is either in the form of cash or gift card, the choice is up to you.
If you like the products that you review & would like to keep them, simply fill out a short survey about your experience emphasizing what you liked & what you didn’t like about this product.

They have also been in the news and media many times as winning awards for leading the market research industry and paving the path for other companies of this nature.

4) Product Testing USA
Are you a gamer or the type of person who is obsessed with electronic gadgets?
Would you like to receive the latest video games to try out before anyone else?
Personally, for me, this is the most enticing company on this entire list.
Why you may ask?
This is simply due to the fact that I’m a huge gamer and love playing the newest blockbuster titles and checking out the latest gaming consoles to hit the market.
In addition to product testing jobs, they also have a few other opportunities that pay cash money as well.
This includes the following
- Mystery Shoppers
- Secret Diners
Once you’re done reviewing these products they are yours to keep.
Since this company pays you with free merchandise, you can’t earn any cash with them but they are still definitely worth it.
As you see above you could review this Samsung QLED 4K TV and keep it afterward as your payment.
I’m not sure how much these cost in stores but if I had to take a guess this could be close to $500.
Definitely not a company you want to pass up as you could be missing out on a lot of free high quality brand name merchandise here.
5)American Consumer Opinion

A Few Tips To Help Improve Your Chances Of Being Accepted
I know this is quite a bit of information to be thrown at you guys today, but as I said earlier, pick & chose the ones you’re interested in and skip over the rest.
It’s important for you guys to also keep in mind that this is a highly competitive field so your chances of being accepted the first time you apply aren’t that great.
Don’t let this discourage you or get you down tho.
This happens on a regular basis and the trick here is to be persistent.
If you don’t get in the first time around, there is always the next time.
Be persistent & update your profile on a regular basis and whatever you do, don’t even think about giving up.
It’s also a great idea to create an email solely for product testing so you can keep this separate from other things that you may be involved in.
Once you get accepted give your honest opinion on the product & make sure to review it thoroughly.
So go ahead, sign up & try your luck.
Also, can you do me a favor and let me know how your experience was?
This way other people that come to this post will know what they’re getting themselves into before they sign up & make any commitments.
My Closing Thoughts
Signing up to be a product tester has got to be one of the best ways for you to earn money or at least get free products shipped to your door for you to try out before they launch.
If you have been searching for some of the most legit companies out there that pay you for this type of work then I couldn’t think of 7 better ones than the ones I listed above.
I have actually just discovered this opportunity here recently myself & haven’t had the chance to dive into this opportunity just yet but it’s definitely on my list.
While the income potential here isn’t bad for this type of work, you are still limited to how much you can earn.
If you’re looking for a way to earn even more money where the income potential is unlimited then you may want to check out Affiliate Marketing.
This is how I earn the majority of my income online and something I would highly recommend you guys look into for yourself.
Other than that, I really hope this detailed post has provided you with everything you needed to know about what a product tester is, how it works, and how much money you can earn with this.
