It seems like everyone & their mother are searching for different ways to make money online to either supplement their current income or replace the one they currently have.
With the plethora of ways that are currently available for you to make money online, many people fail to truly understand how everything works.
This naturally leads to confusion, frustration, & a feeling that you aren’t smart enough to figure this out.
Depending on how long you struggle with this issue will determine how bad it could get.
Statistics show that close to 90% of people who attempt to make money online usually end up quitting within 3 to 6 months from the time they started.
Many things could contribute to these statistics as everyone’s situation will vary from one person to the next.
Within the following post, I’ll be sharing 7 things that hindered me from reaching the type of online success early on.
After learning things the hard way and utilizing some mindset hacks I was able to change my way of thinking and finally reach a few goals I had set when I first started.
If you have been struggling to make money online & aren’t having any luck then I think you owe it to yourself to stick around & continue reading.
I’ll be sharing a few things that personally held me back from achieving any type of REAL results that are worth shouting from the rooftops.
I’m sure that many of you have questions for me and I hope to answer each & every one of them within the context of this post.
However, like always, If I fail to answer your question then I encourage you to leave it for me within the comment section below and I’ll get back to you with a detailed reply.
With that being said, let’s get right into things today.
1) Staying In Your Comfort Zone
This has got to be one of the many things that held me back from reaching any type of success online.
This also plays a role in how successful you’ll be within the online industry as a whole.
When you first start you’ll learn how to start a blog and write articles on a variety of different subjects based on your niche.
As your business starts to grow you’ll naturally want to expand your reach & learn new and exciting ways to get your message out by creating various other types of content.
The #1 reason why most people NEVER get ahead in life or experience any type of significant results whether it be with an online business or at your current J.O.B is that they are comfortable where they’re at.
For your business to evolve & grow it’s going to require you to step out of your comfort zone and do something that you normally wouldn’t do.
Personally, for me, the 2 things that I struggled with the most that helped me step out of my comfort zone and try something new is
- Calling strangers on the phone
- Making a few YouTube videos
Once I got over this fear and stepped out of my comfort zone, I was able to turn my situation around and find one of the many missing puzzle pieces I was searching for all this time.
Stepping out of your comfort zone & expanding your knowledge on various other online mediums is a must if you want to have any type of success online.
2 You Care What People Think Of You
In case you haven’t noticed, when you tell someone that you’re learning how to build an online business they aren’t exactly thrilled.
In most cases, they will likely have no idea what you’re talking about and may give you a dirty look wondering WTF you’re talking about.
Have you guys ever noticed that?
This is due to the way our society is & what we have had crammed down our throat since middle school or earlier.
Personally, for me, when I started here I had my now ex wife & her entire family against me.
They would tell me that I’m wasting my time & that the owners were going on vacation with my money.
I know from personal experience that you need to have thick skin to be able to deal with the haters & everyone else that criticizes you.
Honestly, I let other people’s opinions of me influence me in doing what I know needed to be done to have any type of success online.
As a result, I ended up prolonging the time that it would have taken me if I would have had more of a carefree attitude towards all of this.
Let me give you guys a little tip if you’re just getting started.
If you let the opinions of others get you down, the chances of you becoming highly successful are not very likely.
For you to thrive within the online marketing world, you need broad shoulders to deal with all the BS that will be thrown your way.
3) You’re Not Willing To Invest In Yourself
Personally, for me, I have been burned many times with other programs that I thought at the time was the answer to my search for building a business online.
However, it took me quite some time before I found the right training program that truly cared about helping me succeed online.
I had to learn the hard way about this as well and if I could turn back time somehow, I would have started investing in myself earlier than I did before.
You know what I find funny about people is that they will gladly pay in upwards of $100K or more to enroll in a college course to get a degree.
A degree that will just sit there & collect dust.
If you’re lucky, you could land a J.O.B working for someone else helping them build their dream life.
If that’s what you want then, by all means, don’t let me stop you.
However, when it comes to investing a couple of hundred bucks on an online business training course that could potentially change your life for the better, this seems to be frowned upon.
If you’re only here for the freebies & you aren’t willing to invest in quality education that will show you how to build a business online then you might as well give up right now and stop wasting your time.
Building a business online is going to require some type of investment at some point in time.
As your business starts to grow & evolve you’ll naturally want to invest in things to help it grow so you can reach more targeted visitors.
4) You’re A Perfectionist
This is something that I still struggle with today as I think every piece of content I write needs to be perfect.
If the truth were to be told this is more than likely due to my anxiety that I have had for quite a few years now.
The time that you spend trying to perfect every piece of content you put your name on could be spent on creating new content.
I have learned over the years that everything doesn’t need to be perfect for you to be successful with it and make sales.
This especially holds the truth as I look back to the years 2013,2014, 2015 when I was earning $2,000. $3,000. $4,000 per month.
When I look back to how bad my content was back then that tells me that in NO way does your content need to be perfect or even look professional to make money in this business.
The thing that I like the most about this industry is the fact that you can learn as you earn.
You can then perfect your skills as you move forward & go from there.
As I think back to when I first started here back in 2013, I have learned more than I would have EVER thought would be possible.
If you take this 1 step at a time & try not to bite off more than you can chew, you’ll slowly discover why every piece of content doesn’t need to be perfect.
5) Your Mentality Needs To be Adjusted
Having the right mentality is one of the key factors that will either make you or break you.
Let’s take a minute to analyze this and put it into terms you guys can understand.
If you’re the type of person with low self-esteem and aren’t a very confident person then the thought of starting an online business could seem overwhelming.
If you don’t believe in yourself & you don’t think you can make money online then guess what?
Chances are that with a mindset & attitude like that you likely won’t EVER earn your first dollar online.
Instead of looking at things negatively, why not try to see things in a more positive light?
By doing so for just 1 week & looking at things in a different way I can guarantee that things will start to turn around for you.
Give it a try just for me, would you?
This is something that I struggled with myself as I had had confidence issues pretty much my entire life.
Once I was finally able to wrap my head around all of this and get my mind right I was able to finally experience the type of success I was looking for.
6) You’re Too Focused On The Money
When most people start here they fail to realize that they are building a business and they won’t see any type of monetary results anytime soon.
Since most people are living paycheck to paycheck & have been living like this most of their life, they come here and think that if they work on their website for 8 hours they should get paid for that time.
I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but that’s not how things work here.
When you first start here, money shouldn’t even be on your mind this early in the game.
Instead, you need to focus on building out your site with helpful content that helps them out and offers some type of solution to their problem.
By providing people with the answer to the many questions they have and writing informative, detailed, & helpful content, you’ll be building trust.
Over time, people will start to look up to you and listen to what you have to say which will naturally lead to you becoming the authority in your respective niche.
Once this happens, the money will follow shortly afterward.
Like I have always said, the work you put in today will pay off in the future.
In some cases, like mine, a product review that I wrote back in March 2013 got ranked at the very top of Google page 1.
This review remained at the top of page 1 for over 3 & a half years.
You can probably imagine the amount of traffic, referrals, & affiliate commissions I received from that 1 review that I had written years ago.
By focusing on providing helpful content that provides people with a solution to their problem is how you can make a killing in this industry.
However, it’s not going to come easy and there is a HUGE learning curve to this.
At the end of the day though, it’s 100% worth every minute you devote to it and will pay off in the end.
7) You Lack The Proper Training
I think this is probably one of the main things that hindered me from reaching any type of online success and the main reason why I failed so many times.
This is one of the key factors that make all of this work and without it, you might as well throw in the towel and give up.
Without a step by step blueprint that will walk you through all of this and show you how to set up everything, you’ll be lost.
Before I found the right training program that cared more about helping me succeed online than they did taking my money I guess you could say that I was pretty lost.
With all the get rich quick & many other make money online scams that are present today, finding the right training program that has your best interests at heart is vital if you want to be successful online.
