How To Build & Maintain A Business Online While Working A J.O.B

Building a business
Learning the proper way to build & maintain a business online while working full-time can be quite challenging and for some people seem like an impossible task.
This is especially true if you’re trying to learn all of this on your own without anyone to go to when you have questions or need a hand with something.
When I first started out in this industry back in 2012, I was working at a distribution center in Reynoldsburg Ohio and putting in close to 50 hours a week.
Due to the long days, I was putting in at work, I had very little time to spend working on building my business as I was pretty tired by the end of the day.
How did I find time to work on this and grow it to the point where I can quit my job & go full time online?
This is what I’ll be revealing in the following post so you’ll definitely want to stick around so you don’t miss out on any of this info that I’m about to share with you guys today.
I’ll be showing you guys how to utilize the time you have and how to use it to your advantage.
I’ll also be sharing my personal experience that I’ve had doing this and provide you with some killer tips that have helped me to stay accountable and on the right path to success.
If you’re currently trying to find a perfect balance but can’t seem to do so then this post was written especially for you.
Without further chatter from me, let’s get right into things today.
Sound good?

Time Management

Time management
If there is 1 thing that we both agree upon, I think it would be that there are NEVER enough hours in the day.
Right?
Trust me, I know how busy life can get with things like:

  • Working a full time J.O.B
  • Picking the kids up from school
  • Going to social functions (ie: football games, soccer……etc.)
  • Grocery shopping
  • Cooking dinner for your family
  • Cleaning the house & doing laundry

The list goes on & on…………
With all of these things going on in your life, how the heck do you find time to learn how to build an online business?
I got 2 words for you!!
“Time Management”
With your time being limited due to working a regular job and attending to all the other daily activities, it’s highly imperative that you make good use of your time.
Here are a few tips to help you conquer time management & come up with a plan of action.
Get yourself a whiteboard so you can plan your week out in advance.
Whiteboard calendar
I would highly advise you guys to try and get a whiteboard with a calendar like the one you see pictured above.
In doing so, you’ll be able to mark which days you plan on doing a post or working on your website within the next 30 days or so.
You’ll also be able to list a few goals or add additional content ideas in either the notes or to do section that you see on the left.
This is actually the exact whiteboard that I have hanging up on my wall as we speak and I absolutely love it.

Get Yourself Organized

organized
If you want to leave that 9 to 5 job of yours sometime in the near future, you need to have some level of organization.
If your desk is messy & your files are strung all over the place, then you aren’t creating a positive work environment.
This will lead to you being less productive and could be 1 of the reasons why you choose not to work on your business on any given day.
Trust me, when I first started out here 6 years ago, I struggled with this as well and I know how important it is for you to keep things organized when building a business from home.
Not only will this make you feel good inside, but it will also boost your confidence and make you more productive.
Within the next section, I’ll be showing you guys how to make use of your time and be more productive.

Switch Up Your Daily Routine

Routine
Instead of getting up each morning and getting dressed for work, going through a stressful day, and then have to cook dinner and do a plethora of other things after work, why not switch things up a bit?
If you have to work at 9 am, then you need to start going to bed earlier so you can get up around 5 or 6 am.
This way you’ll be able to get up, shower, get ready for work and sit down to a nice cup of morning coffee and get some quality work done before heading into the office for the day.
Chances are that by the time you get through a stressful day at the office, come home, cook dinner, talk to your husband or wife for a bit, you’ll notice the most of the day is gone.
Guess what this means?
Another day has passed that you weren’t able to work on your business.
Statistics show that you are more productive first thing in the morning when your brain is the freshest and in tip-top shape.
If you get on some type of schedule and work on your business at least 3 days throughout the week and 1 day on the weekend then you’ll be right on schedule.
Remember that whiteboard calendar I mentioned just a few minutes ago?
This is where you would need to list the hours and days you plan to work on your site so you can put this into your schedule of things you need to do over the following week.
Also, if you have the weekends off, why not venture out somewhere else and try switching up your work environment as well?
I was actually blown away myself as I had no idea that your environment played such a factor in your productivity level.

Use People’s Negativity As Motivation

Motivation
Eventually, once people find out what you have been up to for the past several months, they’re going to eventually start asking questions.
When I first started out here over 6 years ago, my family & even my close friends doubted me and told me that I would NEVER make a dime in the online world.
I even had quite a few co-workers, as well as my now ex-wife (Thank God) LOL, tell me that I was wasting my time and that I needed to face reality.
I’m not sure about you guys, but whenever someone tells me that I can’t do something that makes me want to do it even more just to prove them wrong.
Instead of being offended by this and letting it get me down, I used it as fuel to motivate me to prove these people wrong and make them eat their words.
It took me a while to get my business to the point where I was making enough money to throw it in their faces but after months of hard work, I was able to do this literally LOL.
Don’t let the haters get you down or discourage you when you first start out on your online journey.
Instead, think about things in a more positive light and use this as motivation to get out there and prove to the haters in your life that they were wrong.

Where To Find Quality Online Business Training

The tips that I’ve shared with you could help you out and possibly motivate you to start building your online business.
However, if you don’t have any idea of where to start or where to find legit training to make all of this work then the tips that I just shared with you guys will do you absolutely NO good.
With all the scams out there that claim you can be earning money by next week, finding the right training can seem like looking for a needle in a haystack.
For years I would fall for a scam after scam all promising me that I would start earning money by simply plugging into my account & setting everything up.
It wasn’t until I stumbled upon a company called Wealthy Affiliate that I was able to make sense of all of this and understand how everything works.
If you’re looking for in depth & detailed training that will walk you through all of this & learn how to build a business online while working a regular job then I would highly recommend WA to you.
Not only will you learn how affiliate marketing works, but you’ll also have me there by your side to help you out & answer any questions you may have as you’re just getting started.

My Closing Thoughts

If you use the things that I’ve shared with you guys today in this post as a guide and refer back to it when you need some motivation then I think you’ll go far within this business.
Personally, for me, this has become one of the most challenging things that I have ever encountered in my entire life.
It also took me quite a while to master this to get it to the point where I was earning a full time living and able to kick my J.O.B to the curb for good.
If you’re persistent, willing to put in some solid work and learn a new skill that could potentially change your life forever then I think you could go far in this industry.
Anyways, I really hope this post has helped you guys out and provided you with some helpful tips that you can use to either continue building out your business or learn how to start building yours from scratch.
